Dottie's Art Studio, located in Plainfield, IL, is the leading women-owned art studio serving Plainfield, Shorewood, Joliet, Romeoville, and nearby areas. Our full-service studio offers art classes for adults and children, birthday parties, cork and canvas classes, and more. This review is very overdue, but we hosted my daughter’s birthday party at Dottie’s earlier this year and it was lovely. The space itself is beautiful, open, airy, and full of eclectic art. It feels like a hidden gem since its unit is on the other side of the building (which faces Rt. 30). We were given permission to bring in decorations, but the space is so lovely that it really didn’t need much! The instructors did an excellent job and were very kind, attentive, and patient with the kids. They even offered to help me set up the party table and decorations. I also noticed some art on display from a recent adult class and made a mental note to return for an oil painting class for myself. Overall, I was very happy with the experience and would definitely recommend Dottie’s for all ages. As a creative myself, it made me happy to see such a great space for art-lovers in our community!

Janine was extremely helpful and responsive when it came to booking the party and our teacher Aremi was incredible! She was friendly, fun, and patient with us; we couldn't have asked for a better time! 10/10 recommend for your next private party!!

Ever since I was little, art has been a huge part of my life. I’ve always been drawn (no pun intended) to expressing myself and my imagination in a physical form, as when I was younger I used to incoherently skribble what to me were superheroes. From there, I tried many different ways to improve my art and find a community behind it. I finally found it in a small art school run by my idol, Ms. Dottie. She took us on field trips throughout Chicago, taking us on architecture tours and led us on explorations through museums where she encouraged us to find a bench, pop in an airpod, and draw what we saw. At the end of every year, we would pick 5 art pieces, title them, and display them at the local library at our annual Art Show. Because of her, I learned that art is more than just lead on a piece of paper. Art is history, art is expression, art is culture, art is rebellion, art is uniquely you. Since my departure as a student, Dottie’s has grown tremendously, and rightfully so. If you are reading reviews considering whether or not to put your kids through her art studio or even join yourself, do it, it’s so worth it. She is an amazing teacher that creates an environment that encourages self expression and allowed me the opportunity to make lifelong friends. THANK YOU DOTTIE!!!
